The Renaissance Studies Writing Group is a weekly gathering of advanced graduate students in the dissertation phase of their program at IU. The group brings together students specializing in the Renaissance/Early Modern period across a variety of disciplines, from English to Comparative Literature to Musicology.
This fall, we will meet once a week in-person, but there will be the possibility to join on Zoom as well, especially to facilitate those students who are not currently in Bloomington. The schedule for the fall will be set with this semester's participants. Those interested in joining will be surveyed for availability during the second week of classes (September 3). The group is tentatively planned to start in the third week of the semester (September 8-12).
Meetings will last three hours and begin with brief progress check-ins and goal setting, and they will conclude with fifteen minutes of discussion on progress made during the session. The rest of the time is reserved for independent writing. The main objective of the group is to provide an accountable, dedicated space for writing. Participants will also have the opportunity throughout the course of the semester to share any projects they would like feedback on.
The group is also a great way to get to know colleagues outside of your major field of study in a friendly and professional environment.
If you are interested in joining us this fall, please contact Lee Czerw (lczerw@iu.edu). We hope to see you there!
